Napoli Coach Spalletti Denies Rumors of Offers from Other Clubs

Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti has denied recent rumors that he has had offers from other clubs, as speculation regarding his future with the Serie A champions intensifies. The 64-year-old has led Napoli to their first Serie A title in over 30 years and reached the Champions League quarterfinals, sparking talk of interest from rival clubs.

However, Spalletti dismissed any such notion when asked about it during a press conference, saying “I have never received any offers and I will continue to remain focused on Napoli until my contract runs out at the end of this season.” He also expressed his appreciation for the support shown by President Aurelio De Laurentiis, who had previously said he didn’t want to ‘clip the wings’ of his tactician.

The current campaign has been an amazing one for Napoli under Spalletti’s management, as they clinched their first Serie A title in over three decades with four games still remaining in the league season. They also advanced through four rounds of Champions League knockout matches to reach the quarterfinals before being edged out by eventual runners-up Manchester City 3-1 on aggregate scoreline.

Spalletti shot down speculation about his future at Napoli upon being questioned at a press conference earlier this week, but made it clear that he wants to stay at Naples for many more years ahead: “I am really happy here and I’ll work hard to ensure we can build upon this extraordinary success going forward.”

The experienced manager is well respected among players, staff, and fans alike having successfully guided Napoli through this difficult period, something which De Laurentiis hopes will create an even stronger bond between supporters and team: “Luciano is part of our family now and we couldn’t be prouder or more grateful for all he has achieved here since taking charge in 2020.”

With eight titles won between Italy’s top two divisions during his tenure at Roma (2007–2009) and Inter Milan (2017–2019), Spalletti clearly enjoys working with successful teams; something which bodes well for Napoli if they are able to keep hold of him following what could be seen as another remarkable season come May 2021.
