Chelsea in Talks to Sign Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus for Record-Breaking €80m Transfer Fee
Chelsea is set to make a historic move with the potential signing of Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus for an eye-watering €80 million transfer fee. The 23-year-old striker originally joined Juventus in January 2022 from Fiorentina for €81.6 million and still has three years left on his contract.
This would be the highest transfer fee in club history, smashing their previous record of £71 million, when they acquired Timo Werner from RB Leipzig in 2020. Chelsea have been looking at ways to bolster their attack and it looks like this could be the solution that manager Thomas Tuchel needs to take his side to the next level.
The Serbia international had an impressive campaign with Juventus this season, scoring 23 goals in all competitions including 10 in Serie A, making him one of the most sought after strikers in Europe. He was part of a star-studded Juve attack that included Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata but he was arguably one of the most influential players on the team, often coming up with crucial goals when needed.
His style of play fits perfectly into Tuchel’s system and it is believed that the German tactician has been following Vlahovic’s progress closely since he arrived at Chelsea last year. With experienced attackers such as Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham leaving Stamford Bridge this summer, it is no surprise that Chelsea are keen on signing Vlahovic as soon as possible.
It remains to be seen if Juventus will agree to let their prized asset leave Turin but reports suggest that they are prepared to listen if Chelsea meet their asking price. It would certainly be a statement move from Chelsea if they can pull off this transfer as it would show the football world that they are ready to compete for major honours both domestically and abroad.
In anticipation of this potential move, fans have already started getting excited about what a player like Vlahovic could bring to Stamford Bridge next season, especially wearing the iconic Juventus jersey 2023/24 – a sight many Blues supporters can’t wait to see!
